   I am May Phyo Thiri San. I am a Red Cross volunteer at Myanmar Red Cross Society Hpa-an township Red Cross branch, Kayin State. I joined the Red Cross in 2014. Ever since I saw Red Cross volunteers coming to work in our neighborhood, I wanted to contribute and join them. I attended the first aid training at the university which was run by the Red Cross and she joined them after it. “ I am happy that my wish became true as I have the opportunity to contribute to Red Cross work after completing the First Aid training.”

   During my eight years working with the Red Cross, I have contributed in promoting township health care services, providing first aid trainings and emergency response for natural disaster such as fire outbreaks and floods, and providing humanitarian aids to the displaced people.

   We packed edible oil, rice and food to distribute to the victims of flood. All my tiredness from the work was gone when I saw the happy face of the people receiving rice and edible oil. I would like to urge my fellow Red Cross volunteers not to be discouraged when they are faced with difficulties, and continue to help the people. I would also urge the community not to hesitate in asking for help for Red Cross volunteers are always ready to help.
