First Aid & Safety Services

First Aid is not only the backbone and integral component of Myanmar Red Cross but also the platform for all projects and programs implemented. First Aid activities of Myanmar Red Cross had started since 1972 through the St.John Ambulance Services programs. At first, First Aid trainings were targeted to the Red Cross Brigadiers but now First Aid is for community as well. The goal of MRCS for First Aid is “One First Aider in One Household” and the society is working very hard to reach the goal. MRCS conducts First Aid and Safety Services trainings for Red Cross volunteers, school teachers, community volunteers and community members countrywide, for them to know First Aid techniques and to give first aid services to affected people in emergencies, conflicts and in daily life situations and to refer to hospitals where necessary. Trained Staff and Volunteers share First Aid knowledge in the community. MRCS conducts various types of First Aid, mine risk education, and communities based first aid, psychosocial support and safety trainings including water safety and life guarding, home accident prevention and road accident prevention trainings. Commercial First Aid Trainings are done upon requests of private organization as one of the fundraising activities of Myanmar Red Cross Society and it also means for the sustainability of first aid program in future. Trained Red Cross volunteers, school teacher and community volunteers across the country have been providing First Aid services, wherever and whenever there is a need not only in disasters and conflicts but also in daily emergencies. Red Cross volunteers and community volunteers are helping the communities to reduce number of injuries happened at home and on roads through Home accident prevention and Road accident prevention programs.
