Partners of Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) to meet in Nay Pyi Taw

Representatives from Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies who are closely coordinated with MRCS in the humanitarian sector will gather after the Red Cross Seminar on “Coalition for Resilience in Myanmar” on the 15th October to 17th of October. They will be participating in the 7th Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement Partnership Meeting which will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. Hosted by the Myanmar Red Cross Society, the meeting is aiming at reviewing previous Partnership Meeting’s recommendations and follow up actions, overview the Partnership Review Talks, Partnership Framework and strengthen cooperation between MRCS and National Societies as well as working together with partners to map out future steps/commitments to achieve identified goals. This will include identifying the areas where partners can best support MRCS’ humanitarian actions in accordance with MRCS Strategic Plan 2020. The visiting Red Cross and Red Crescent leaders are from 14 sister national societies and representatives from the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. MRCS organises this event with the support of International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies, International Committee of Red Cross. “There are numerous challenges that we face today, and will face in the future, with disasters, climate change, extreme weather, violence and conflict,” Professor Dr. Daw Mya Thu states. “The support of the Myanmar Red Cross is critical for our communities. The strong support they have at a regional level, as we see here today, is also very important, because we face these challenges along with our neighbours, and we can find solutions together,” she explains.
