The opening ceremony of the 84th Central Council Meeting of the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) was held as a video conferencing in the morning on 28 October, 2021. The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister for Health Prof. Dr. Aye Tun, MRCS President Dr. Maung Maung Myint, Vice-President Dr. Daw Amaya Maw Naing; Full-time / Part-time Executive Committee members, Directors General and invited guests from related Ministries, Naypyitaw, State and Regional Red Cross Supervisory Committee Chairmen and Red Cross Brigade Officers, officials from ICRC and IFRC, representatives from partner National Societies, MRCS Secretary General, Deputy Secretaries General, Directors, HOD and Deputy Directors. The Deputy Minister delivered an opening speech at the ceremony and the MRCS President explained the humanitarian activities and update of the MRCS, then documentary photos were taken and next the opening ceremony was successfully concluded.
According to the Myanmar Red Cross Society Law 2015, the Central Council meeting is convened at least once a year and the current and future activities of the MRCS are to be discussed in line with MRCS SP 2021-2025.
